How is everybody doing?! I love to hear about all of the experiences of the family each week. Sounds like I've got a pretty super-star family. Conner going to Texas and New York for cool business opportunities, Nate in medical school, and Karli killing it in nursing school and with her two boys. That's awesome! I love you guys!
This week was an amazing week! We were able to have Elder Alonso of the Area Presidency come and train the mission in multi-zone conferences throughout the week. I had the opportunity to meet him and his wife and they are so amazing! I was able to go to the training on Thursday. Sister Wilkinson asked me to translate for her during the training that she gave. She is so full of personality so it was a little interesting trying to translate her words for everybody in Spanish but it went well! Then President trained something he tells us always. The three enemies of faith: fear, disobedience, and doubt. He is such a powerful man and an amazing teacher.
Lastly, we were able to hear from Elder Alonso. It was such a spiritual experience. You can just see it in his face that he is a man of God. You can feel his presence so strong when he enters a room. The training was amazing because he had a topic in mind that he was going to train each of the three conference on during the week. He gave the first one like normal and during ours he completely changed the topic as the Spirit directed. He stood in front of everybody and started to train on his usual topic and after receiving a few inspired questions from the missionaries he completely changed the subject and started to train on faith. He put forth the example of Abraham and Isaac, and taught us the story from a different perspective. He taught of his amazing faith as he went up to the altar with his son. And in verse 5 it says:
He told those young men that he would go up to the altar with his son, and they would both return. That we will "come again unto you." He had complete faith in his Heavenly Father that he would provide a way to come back. He had no fear nor doubt. And at that last moment before sacrificing his son Heavenly Father did provide the way. Elder Alonso said that the answers to our problems won't come when the problem first presents itself, neither after a little bit of time. But after we put our faith in our Heavenly Father and do all that we can, and right as we are about to give up the Lord will come through and help us if we have the faith sufficient. I learned a lot from the Spirit in that meeting and it deepened my testimony.
The rest of the week went well in our area. Jorge and David are working towards a baptism next Saturday and we are so excited for them. This is my last week of training in the office, then I will be on my own in here. I love it though and I feel confident that I´ve got it all down.
I love and pray for you! The picture is of the missionaries in the San Francisco Ward.
Mi amigo mexicano siempre me decía: Sus padres le mandan a usted los paquetes mas ricos! Hay que agradecerles mucho.
