02/21/15 - Misioneros

Hey!  How is everyone doing?!  Sounds like you had a blast in St. George over the weekend!  Eating all of the good food!  I talk about the mongolian barbeque place with one of my buddies in the mission all the time.  Good stuff.  Mom, I do have warm water in the new place!  After the ice shower for six months it is a good change.  You just have to be fast and get out before the heater shorts out and it gets super cold.  To answer the question, my companion Elder Hoover is from Lehi, UT.  He is a really cool guy and he's training me well.

The office life is super busy all of the time!  It is so crazy and we have so many things to do all the time.  Its really good though and I like it a lot.  Actually, this morning I got up at 1:45 for an airport run.. I'm pretty tired right now haha but it's fun.  You get to see a completely different side of the mission in the office.  It's just a bunch of things that you never think about that happen behind the scenes to make a mission run smooth.  The other cool thing is that we are preparing for the mission to split and we have a ton of work to do.  We are going to bring in about 80 new missionaries in the next couple changes and we need to get the other office up and running a month before the split actually happens.  It is an exciting time to be a missionary in Costa Rica!

We are starting to see some great things in the area!  Tonight we have two baptisms.  Their names are Fabrizio and Nikol.  They are young but we are excited to see them baptized today to complete families.  We are also finding several great investigators and are very excited to start working with them.  We found an investigator this week through a miracle.  His name is Marvin and he is from Nicaragua and just moved here less than a week ago.  Many of his family members are members of the church, and right before he moved here to Costa Rica his cousin gave him a Book of Mormon with his testimony written on the inside cover.  One of the first people he meets in his first week in Costa Rica are the missionaries!  When we went to go teach him he told us about all of this and sure enough he pulled out a Book of Mormon with a testimony on the inside.  I know that we have a Heavenly Father of miracles.  He truly prepares the people to receive our message.  This is His work and His glory, we just have the amazing privilege to participate in this great work.  Marvin has some work to do, but I am very excited to work with him.

Right now we are working with two really great investigators for March baptisms named Jorge and David. Jorge is 17 years old and a goofy guy. He loves to talk with us and likes church a lot.  David is in his 30s and has a mild case of schizophrenia.  He is such a cool guy and he calls us every single day to pass by his house and teach him.  They are progressing very well in the gospel and we have great hopes for them.

I know that the Church of Jesus Christ has been restored on the earth today, and with it the fullness of the gospel.  God loves all of His children, and I know that He is aware of each of them in all of their situations.  The peace and joy this gospel brings amazes me.  I love it!

I love you all and hope that you have a great week!
